Tears Of The Kingdom Sun Pumpkin Guide

Sun Pumpkins are one of the more unique ingredients in Tears of the Kingdom. When cooked properly, they can heal damage inflicted by Gloom. This makes them very useful for exploration in the Depths and for any other enemies that inflict Gloom damage. Unfortunately, getting Sun Pumpkins is not a very quick process. In fact, there’s a chance you’ve never even seen one in the game. Well, let’s break down how to get Sun Pumpkins in Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to get Sun Pumpkins

Sun Pumpkins can only be found after completing a series of quests in Hateno Village. These quests are Team Cece or Team Reede?, Cece’s Secret, A New Signature Food, and Reede’s Secret. You then have to finish The Mayoral Election which opens up the Homegrown in Hateno quest. This quest is the one that finally causes Sun Pumpkins to appear in Hateno Village. This is a lot of effort there’s no doubt about that. On the bright side, this also lets you lower Link’s Hylian Hood for that extra bit of fashion.

Once Homegrown in Hateno is complete, your reward is five Sun Pumpkins. You can then head into Hateno Village’s General Store to buy more Sun Pumpkins for 20 Rupees each. There are only two but come back when the stock refreshes and you can buy more. It’s difficult to get Sun Pumpkins in large quantities, so make the most of them when you can get them.

They have the same effect as Sundelions which restores hearts that have been locked out by Gloom. Without spoiling anything, this is a very useful thing to have towards the end of the game as a lot of enemies can deal Gloom damage at that point. Having plenty of food on hand that can restore these lost hearts can give Link a major advantage in battle.
