There are many mysteries to uncover in the expansive world of Diablo 4. From hidden sidequests to rare world events, there’s plenty to keep you scouring every inch of the massive map for more even after you’ve exhausted the endgame. Many of these secrets lead you to unique pieces of equipment, confusingly separate from the in-game ‘Unique’ category, but no less distinct in terms of their abilities. The Grotesque Loop is one such item in Diablo 4, and in this guide we’ll tell you exactly how to get it.

How to snag the Grotesque Loop in Diablo 4

Step 1: Find Faraya Tehi in Kehjistan

The Grotesque Loop can only be acquired by defeating Faraya Tehi, one of Diablo 4’s elusive super-unique enemies. Just like Nine-Eyes, The Broodmother and Sir Lynna, Faraya Tehi can only be found in one specific location, at a specific time. In this case, the location is in the Amber Sands area of Kehjistan, southwest of the Alcarnus Stronghold, and the time is during the day. To reach Tehi’s location, you’ll want to warp to the Tarsarak Waypoint, then head west across the Scorching Sands to reach him. The map above will show you the way.

Step 2: Defeat Faraya Tehi in battle

Once you’ve found him, it’s time to throw down! While super-unique enemies can be some of the most challenging encounters you’ll face in the game, Faraya Tehi doesn’t fall into this category. He’s an incredibly straightforward fight, much the same as a regular enemy with more health, other than his unique snake-summoning gimmick. This is his signature move, and it ties into his lore and the lore of the Grotesque Loop itself later on.

While it may be tempting to deal with the snakes as he summons them, you’ll have better results if you avoid them and just keep pouring all the damage you can into Tehi himself. It won’t take long for you to wear him down, at which point he’ll die, unleashing a swarm of extra snakes as he does so. Make sure you’re prepared for this, and try to be a good distance away when you land the killing blow, so you have time and space to deal with the snake squad as it appears.

Step 3: Enjoy the Grotesque Loop!

Once you’ve defeated Faraya Tehi, and all of his snake friends, you can claim the Grotesque Loop that he drops. Unlike the majority of items dropped by super-unique enemies, the Loop can be equipped by characters of any class, though it works best with Barbarians and Druids, since they can access both Fortify and Barrier skills.

The Loop provides a boost to both of those elements, as well as some lifegain when hitting enemies, making it an excellent defensive tool in the right build. Keep in mind that, if the specific boost values on the Loop aren’t quite good enough for you, you can always fight Faraya Tehi again and roll another one, as he respawns in the same location every day.

So there you have it: a full guide on how to get the Grotesque Loop in Diablo 4. It’s a powerful ring that can single-handedly save your skin in tight combat situations: A fact that almost makes up for the disgusting lore implications that surround it.
