Gathering items is a major part of the gameplay loop in Sons of the Forest. You can discover materials from just about all over, such as abandoned camps, caves, or in various chests or suitcases littering the ground in places. Sometimes, however, you may be low on crafting material you need. So, what’s the plan? Typically, you’ll need to go exploring, which can take time. Or you can try the duplication glitch and gather as many items you want inĀ Sons of the Forest.

Playing the game for more than a few hours will fill your travel kit with plenty of items. You’ll hoard bones, rope, sticks, rocks of two varieties, batteries, and so much more. But let’s say you’re about to go spelunking in some dangerous cave and you’re lacking the cloth for Molotov cocktails. It happens. In my experience so far, The Forest was far less stingy with cloth than its sequel. There is a way to get more material you’ll ever need, and it only takes a couple easy steps.

The duplication glitch in Sons of the Forest is more of an oversight, rather than a glitch. To get a never-ending supply of, erm, supplies, find an area in the game where items can be gathered. This can be a camp, for example. Gather all the materials you want from any storage units. Create a shelter and save the game. Next, reload your save. All the storage units should be restocked. Keep this going until you’re all filled up.

Preferably, you should seek out a camp with a tent to save and sleep in, that way you don’t have to burn a tarp. As a pro tip, you should also build your base near a camp, that way you can get freshly supplied every time you start up your game.

Sons of the Forest is available via Steam.
